Jacqui and Lachlan McCallum purchased their first home in 2009 – a tiny two-bedroom weatherboard bungalow in Yarraville. The couple loved the quiet cul-de-sac street and home’s cosy character along with the vibrant inner-city lifestyle so forgave the quirky interior layout.
Upon entry you walked into an unused formal lounge where a narrow hallway led to a living room that doubled as a thoroughfare to the dated vinyl kitchen. One bathroom serviced two small bedrooms and the lack of an outdoor entertaining area made social gatherings a challenge.
Five years after moving in and with a family now numbering four, the house was bursting at the seams. Keen to stay in a location they loved, Lachlan and Jacqui decided to breathe new life into their house.
Over six months we transformed their tiny two-bedroom one-bathroom weatherboard into a stunning two-storey home featuring four spacious bedrooms, two luxurious bathrooms, a light-filled study, dining room, separate laundry and large open plan kitchen and living area leading out onto an entertainer’s Silver Top Ash deck with built-in seating and BBQ. The transformation is truly magnificent, full of personalised touches and towing the perfect line between functional and architecturally beautiful.
